The Cincinnati Fire Protection District was formed in 1970 with the sole purpose of providing timely fire protection service and life saving measures to the local citizens and surrounding area. Each of our firefighters spend countless hours every year training to protect the citizens of our community. Our firefighters are often the first to arrive at fires, medical calls, car crashes, and rescue operations which is why they operate as an Emergency Medical Response agency with a Basic Life Support upgrade.

Training Opportunities
New Training Tower
Over the last year, our members have been working hard behind the scenes on a project that will have a lasting impact on the future of our department — the construction of our very own on-site training tower.
Rather than purchasing a pre-built training facility from a commercial company, we have been able to design and build this facility ourselves with some help from a local contractor for a fraction of the cost, allowing us to stretch our resources further while still creating a highly functional and realistic training environment for our firefighters.
Having our own training facility right here at the station is a tremendous asset to our department. It gives our firefighters the ability to train more frequently, build muscle memory, practice new skills, and continually improve without having to travel to another facility or wait for outside training opportunities.
The residential-style layout allows us to create realistic scenarios involving search and rescue, hose advancement, fire attack, ventilation, forcible entry, firefighter survival, victim removal, incident command, thermal imaging, MAYDAY operations, and much more.
It also gives our instructors the ability to take classroom education and immediately put it into practice. New firefighters can learn the fundamentals in a controlled environment, while experienced members can continue sharpening their skills and working together as a team.
Ultimately, better training means better prepared firefighters and a safer community.
